Termoli, a city where history meets contemporary culture, is reimagining its visual identity to honor its heritage while looking to the future. The “Rebranding Termoli” competition, launched by Terraviva with the Municipality of Termoli and Fondazione MACTE, invited creatives worldwide to design a new graphic identity rooted in the city’s unique character—its architecture, traditions, and artistic spirit—while supporting its candidacy as Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027.

At the core of the initiative is Place Branding, using design and storytelling to forge emotional connections between people and place. An international jury evaluated hundreds of proposals from countries including Italy, Brazil, Switzerland, Hungary, Germany, and Austria, recognizing the global resonance of Termoli’s transformation.

This exhibition is part of the 64^th Premio Termoli, one of Italy’s longest-running art events, established in 1955 and origin of the MACTE collection. Since 2020, the Premio Termoli includes a section dedicated to Architecture and Design, focusing on site-specific commissions. The 2025 edition, curated by Caterina Riva, runs from 30 May to 20 September, with a visual arts committee composed of Simone Ciglia, Gioia Dal Molin, Rossella Farinotti, and Emanuele Guidi.

Together, these initiatives highlight Termoli’s cultural ambition and the transformative power of design to shape a city’s identity and future.
