RE-GEN GORIZIA – ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION

At the meeting point between Italy and Slovenia, where cultures, languages and histories intertwine, the city of Gorizia is preparing for a new chapter in its urban evolution. The competition invites participants to rethink Sant’Anna district – one of the largest residential areas in the town – as a new model of contemporary living.

Participants are asked to elaborate a masterplan capable of redefining the district’s identity: reconnecting fragmented spaces, rethinking accessibility and enhancing the system of parks and open areas through sustainable and inclusive design strategies.

What kind of interventions could help build a new identity for today’s fragmented and underused green spaces? How might pedestrian and cycling routes be reimagined to make the area more accessible and better connected to the rest of the city?

The challenge is to imagine Sant’Anna not as a peripheral neighbourhood, but as a laboratory of urban innovation – a place where design, ecology and community meet to shape a new idea of the city!
